Frequently Asked Questions

Sprudge Maps is a new project from the folks at the Sprudge Media Network. After mapping 2500+ roasters that are in operation during the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, the folks at Sprudge wanted to create a database of all cafes, coffee roasters, and coffee companies that are open for business and an easy way for owners to update hours and protocols as they change throughout the disruption.

This work is presented by La Marzocco and Pacific Barista Series.

I’m a coffee drinker. Is this website free for me?

Yes — this website is free for you to use, presented by our generous partner sponsors. You can use Sprudge Maps to find delicious coffee in your area, and soon discover content about coffee all around the world from the Sprudge editorial archives. Our goal is to offer you a new way to discover coffee all around the world, for free, for everyone!

I’m a coffee business owner. Is this website free for me?

Yes — this website is free for you to use, presented by our generous partner sponsors. You can register your cafe or coffee business today, then update as things change in the weeks to come. Perhaps you’re just serving limited hours, or only doing take-out only—include that information on your listing, then modify it using your account at your convenience.

I own a coffee business that is online only. Is this website for me?

At this time Sprudge Maps is focused on coffee companies with physical cafe locations. Watch for added functionality for Sprudge Maps in the weeks to come.

I own a coffee roasting company that does not have cafes. Is this website for me?

At this time Sprudge Maps is focused on coffee companies with physical cafe locations, but if you’re an online roaster with a tasting room or training center we’d love to have you join us, so add away!

Why don’t I see my favorite coffee company here?

Sprudge Maps is in public beta — this project is still growing and developing, with more cafes being added each day. If your favorite company isn’t listed yet, show them Sprudge Maps and tell them to sign up. It’s free and easy!

What, no coffee from Spain? Aren’t our cafes good enough for you, Sprudge?

Absolutely! We welcome listings from all corners of the globe. Sign up is free and open today from Anchorage to Zanzibar.

How do you authenticate users?

We’re asking users to register using an email account attached to the company they represent, and authenticating each user individually based on the information supplied. If you don’t have an email account attached to your business, go ahead and register as best you can and we may follow up to authenticate.

Why don’t you offer [such n’ such] or why can’t I do [this n’ that]?

Sprudge Maps is in the public beta phase—this is not a fully finished product. We’ll be learning along the way what the project needs and how to improve it based on user feedback. Stick with us! This is just the beginning.

What’s a Sprudge?

Sprudge is the espresso sludge that winds up on your clothes after a busy bar shift. Sprudge is a portmanteau of “espresso” and “Drudge” created to suggest the 21st-century phenomenon of coffee news and culture. Sprudge is the world’s most popular coffee publication, independently owned and operated since 2009. Our homepage is Sprudge.com. We cover coffee competitions at SprudgeLive.com and publish about natural wine at SprudgeWine.com.
