Kōkako is a specialty coffee roaster based in Auckland, New Zealand who is committed to Fairtrade, innovation and reducing their impact on the earth. This is their first flagship coffee bar and in a city that prides itself on its café culture, they wanted a fresh take on coffee for Auckland. Customers are welcomed to either self-serve a speedy takeout coffee, or take a seat at our bar for a peaceful moment to enjoy their brew and learn about what they’re drinking. There’s also a seasonal menu featuring interesting beverages, some caffeinated and others not.
The counter is upcycled from 8,000+ plastic milk bottles and a cup rinse station is installed on the customer side of the bench to promote reusable cup uptake. Openness and transparency were other key considerations of the fit-out. A La Marzocco KB90 handles most shots while a single group Modbar prepares single-origin and decaf espresso drinks.
All of Kōkako’s blends and single origins are all certified Fairtrade, Biogro Organic, and climate neutral and are served with or with Jersey Girl Organic milk, or your choice of soy or oat milk.
