My wife Edna and I started a life and a cafe together here in Philly 15 years ago. Along the way, we’ve learned a lot about establishing a cafe, starting with a dream, and following through with continuous hard work and attention to detail. We’ve learned how to bake professionally (well, she not me) and how to source & roast coffee grown and brought to us by quality-focused and sustainably-minded coffee farmers and importers. The biggest lessons have been the hardest, but have made us stronger and have given us perspective that helps us through any new challenges. We’ve also learned the value of family, friends, neighbors, and our global community in helping us achieve our goals, helping each other through hard times, celebrating our achievements, staying grateful, and inspiring us to become better at our respective crafts, while making a positive impact in the world that goes beyond coffee and baking.
